  3. 500 GOANS WILL MARCH TO DELHI IF PORTS LIMIT NOT REMOVED: SIMOES

Goenche Raponkarache Ekvott today warned the Goa State Costal Management Authority and the authorities that 500 people will visit Delhi to protest against the ports limit if their demands are not met. Olencio Simoes, briefing the gathering post submission of a memorandum to GCZMA Member Secretary, Dashrath Redkar, stated their demand for removal of port limits and inclusion of the 46 lakh sq meters of sand dunes in the CZMP plan. Which coastal state in India has shown port limits? he questioned. It may be recalled that the National Coastal Zone Management Authority (NCZMA) rejected the State Government appeal for the removal of the port limit in the final plan. Simoes questioned the efficiency of the Goa office and said that it will be shut if it fails in its duty to protect the interests of the Goan coastline. Olencio demanded that Redkar have an immediate meeting with the NCZMA and take this agenda on priority. He also asked about the inclusion of the stakeholders.
