  3. 76% ILLEGAL TOURISM IN GOA: SERAFINO COTA PRESIDENT-SMALL & MEDIUM HOTELIER ASSOC, GOA

In a shocking revelation with Prime Newsroom, President of Small and Medium Hotelier Association Serafino Cota stated that Goa has 3835 registered hotels and around 11,200 hotels are illegal. Claiming that there is about 76% of illegal tourism in the state, Cota urged government to take action on the illegalities and submitted a memorandum to explain the same to Tourism minister Rohan Khaunte. He further stated that the arrival of OLA or Uber taxis may lead to fear of job loss of local taxi drivers and demanded for priority to Goans in terms of employment if these apps are introduced in Goa. Cota has also revealed that despite the pandemic and loss in business, hoteliers were continuously made to pay government fees without any relaxation.
