Over the last 75 years our country has made tremendous growth in terms of health care both in public and private spheres.
In the Amrut Flag March Manipal Hospital Goa doctors and staff were joined by a galaxy of patients ‘Heroes’ who have conquered Cancer, Kidney, Heart and other ailments with age ranging from 7 to 75. The patient were beneficiaries of the advances in technology in their fight against the various ailments had remarkable stories to tell . The Function was also attended by Dr. Joy Chief Secretary Kerala State .
In his speech chief secretary addressed the
ill effects of tobacco and that it’s curb can decrease incidence of oral cavity cancer.
Speaking on the momentous occasion occasion His Excellency the Hon’ble Governor of Goa, Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai , said “Over the last 75 years health care in India has improved by leaps and bounds.As you can see from the statistics of health care over the last 75 years, While in 1947-56 the Life expectancy of an average person in India was only 35.21 years, today in 2022 the life expectancy has increased to on an average 70.19 years.
Health Care in Goa is one among the best in India. I can proudly say that the Health Care in Goa has grown by leaps and bounds and today we a very good health care system for the public, making it so attractive that a large no of poor and unaffordable patients from our neighboring states are always coming to Goa Medical College as their first choice of destination in case. It is so good that even the rich people have made it their choice for all health care solutions”
Lauding the Manipal Hospitals Group for strengthening the Health Care sector in the state he further said
In the recent years I am happy to note that the Manipal Hospital Goa has added Bone Marrow transplant, comprehensive cancer care , complex cardiac and vascular interventions as well as Kidney transplant to the range of treatment available at the door step for Goan population.
He went on to add *One appeal I will make to the public today to come forward for organ donation. *
While it is commendable to see the women come forwards as donor but at the same time it is quite astounding that only 10% donors are men, more men should come forward.
