
‘International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking’ was celebrated on June 26, 2022. In order to create awareness regarding ill-effects of drugs, among youth and school students, Anti Narcotic Cell of Goa Police had organised drawing/painting competition for the students of std V to XII of schools/Higher Secondary in Goa, slogan competition for general public/school students and 10kms Marathon race under the theme “Run Against Drugs” from Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium to Ferry Point, Panaji.
Chief Secretary, Shri Puneet Kumar Goyal, IAS flagged off the 10 kms run in the distinguished presence of IGP Shri Omveer Singh IPS, DIGP Smt Aslam Khan IPS, SP (ANC) Shri Shobhit Saksena IPS, SP (Crime) Shri NidhinValsan IPS and other police officers of Goa Police.
The prize distribution was held at Police Headquarters, Panaji after the Marathon Race. Shri Shobhit Saksena IPS, SP (ANC) delivered a talk to the students of St Thomas Boys High School, Mapusa.
Various awareness programs were organised by all the Police Stations in Goa such as displaying of banners and distribution of handbills and pamphlets to the general public and school students. A pledge was taken by the police staff and officers on the theme “To stay away from drugs and live a healthy life”. Rallies were conducted for school children. Talks were organised in schools for the students to create awareness among them regarding ill effects of drugs.
