ANJUNA-CAISUA PANCHAYAT AGAINST HOLDING OF SUNBURN EDM DUE TO SPREAD OF COVID
ANJUNA: The Anjuna-Caisua panchayat has firmly opposed the holding of Sunburn electronic dance music (EDM) this year for fear of COVID-19 pandemic spreading in the village.
Anjuna-Caisua sarpanch Savio Almeida said there is fear of a second wave as stated by Health Minister Vishwajit Rane. Ports Minister Michael Lobo too has also expressed himself against holding the Sunburn festival due to the pandemic, he stated.
“We don’t want to put the life of our villagers at risk as it is attended by large number of people. We are also not against the festival. Sunburn can be held at any other time but not this year,” Almeida said.
The sarpanch disclosed that the Sunburn organisers had submitted incomplete application seeking permission to hold the event and they were yet to submit required documents.
It may be recalled that last week the Sunburn organisers announced that the three-day EDM festival will be held at Vagator beach from December 27 to 29 this year and that they will allow only 20 per cent capacity of the beach while, participants will have to strictly follow social distancing as per the MHA guidelines.
