Calangute/Mapuca: Calangute Block will work with more enthusiasm and will ensure more enrollment of members. The Block Committee will decide their candidate for the assembly elections and will propose it to district said Girish Chodankar while addressing Calangute Block Congress Committee at Plumeria Banquet Hall Calangute.
District President Vijay Bhike, PCC General Secretary and former MLA Agnel Fernandes, Goa Panchayat Raj Sanghatan Chairman Joseph Sequeira, Block President Rajan Korgaokar, ZP Candidates Lourence Silveira, Youth Congress District President Vivek D’silva were present on the dais.
GPCC president further urged the block members to strengthen the organisation by involving various citizens including activists. He has given various reorganisation tasks to the block including activation of Booth Committees. He also urged them to continue to help people suffering due to Covid pandemic and also to visit those families who lost near and dear ones as per AICC program and to help them to get compensation of Rs. 6 lakhs as announced by Central and State government.
While attacking BJP Government Chodankar said they have mishandled Covid resulting in deaths of over 3000 innocents and also destroyed economy which resulted into loss of jobs, businesses. They have imposed unnecessary taxes on Petrol, Diesel, LPG punishing Indians in the name of Achhe Din. He further said will not allow Michael Lobo to destroy Calangute with his evil designs of PDA and Urbanisation
Chodankar said, Dr. Pramod Sawant Government is out to sell Goa to Crony Club of PM Modi in the form of Three linear projects, Sagar Mala, CZMP etc. Custodial death of activist Fr. Stan Swamy and arrest of over 3000 activists all over India is full proof of Undeclared emergency in our country.
District President Vijay Bhike urged the Block to focus on Booth management as we are very close to Assembly elections. GPCC General Secretary Agnel Fernades while speaking said, we have to kill virus of defection in Goa and that we should not allow the BJP leaders to contest on Congress in Calangute. He said he will take lead to unite every one in Calangute.
Joseph Sequira while addressing said nomination should be given only to loyal congressmen and said we have capable leaders to defeat BJP. He said Lok Sabha and ZP elections has proved that we are strong in Calangute. Vivek D’silva briefed the members about contributing of YC during both wave of Covid and committed to strengthen YC block. ZP candidate Lourence Silveira, activist Benadicta D’Souza, Calangute panch members Gabriel Fernandes, Jainath parulekar, North Dist. congress Gen. Sec. Sachin Vengulekar, CCF president Premanand Duikar, Candolim ex panch member Lorry Fernandes also gave valuable suggestions to strengthen the block. Earlier Block President Mr. Korgaokar In his welcome speech briefed activities of Block while Youth activist Swapnesh Vaigankar campered the program and proposed vote of thanks.
