Various programmes will be held to mark the commemoration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti at the State Level function to be held at Farmagudi, Ponda on February 19, 2023.
This annual event will be organized by the Department of Information and Publicity in Association with Village Panchayat, Bandora and Zilla Panchayat Member, Kavlem.
The day-long programme will commence at 8.30 a.m. with Dhol Tasha Pathak performance by Jagdamb club, Marcaim and presentation (Singing) of Powadas by Bal Bhavan Children. This will be followed by garlanding of the Statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a legendary Maratha warrior at Farmagudi fort premises at 8.45 a.m. by Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant followed by offering flower petals at the pedestal (portrait) of the statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj by Minister for Agriculture, Shri Ravi Naik; WRD Minister, Shri Subhash Shirodkar; Minister for Art and Culture Shri. Govind Gaude; Power Minister, Shri. Ramkrishna Dhavlikar;Chairperson, Ponda Municipal Council, Shri Ritesh R. Naik; Sarpanch, Bandora Panchayat, Shri Sukhanand Gaude; ZP Member Kavlem, Shri Ganpat D. Naik; Secretary, Information and Publicity, Shri Subhash Chandra (IAS); Director, DIP, Shri Dipak Bandekar, Dr Amar Adke, Historian and freedom fighters besides other dignitaries.
Thereafter Chief Minister will garland the burst of former Chief Minister of Goa, Late Dayanand Bandodkar at Farmagudi and other dignitaries will offer floral petals. The main function will be held in the precincts of Shree Ganapati Temple premises at Farmagudi. Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant; Minister for Agriculture, Shri Ravi Naik; WRD Minister, Shri Subhash Shirodkar; Minister for Art and Culture Shri. Govind Gaude; Power Minister, Shri. Ramkrishna Dhavlikar; and other dignitaries will address the people on the occasion.
Dr Amar Adke, historian from Kolhapur will deliver a keynote address on the life and times of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Various competitions involving students will also be held in the precinct of Shree Ganapati Devasthan at Farmagudi on the same day. These include All Goa Inter Collegiate Quiz on the topic – Life, Times and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and All Goa Theatrical Entry (Natya Pravesh) Competition for students of High School and Higher Secondary Level on the life and work of Shivaji Maharaj from 9.00 a.m. onwards at the precincts of Ganapati Temple premises at Farmagudi.
The highlight of the celebration will be the staging of historical dramas on life of Chhhatrapati Maharaj across the State from February 18, 2023 to February 23, 2023. The keynote speaker from Kolhapur, Dr Amar Adke is a founder President of a leading institution for Fort trekking, conservation, study and trekking movement in Maharashtra Maitrey Pratishthan and former member of the Gadkot Samvardhan Samiti of Maharashtra Government. He has also authored a book titled Sahyadrichya Girishikhravarun which has received best literature and publication award of Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad. Dr Adke also has 40 years of extensive experience in Fort and forest wandering and Mountaineering. In this period he has done full documentation including 454 forts, hundreds of forts and several forests with 13,500 photographs. He is also a divisional Editor and Writer of Gazetteer Kolhapur Division; Member, Board of Studies, Shivaji University (Department of History). He is also Founder President of Kolhapur District Mountaineering Association an apex organization of Kolhapur district mountaineering & trekking activities.
