Panaji: The Congress Legislature Party today blamed the BJP Government for its failure and incompetency which has resulted in complete chaos in the administration. The CLP also raised concerns over the complete collapse of the Law and Order in Goa, the gross mismanagement of Covid Pandemic and the recent permissions given for Land Acquisition for Double Tracking by the Government. The CLP decided to continue to be the Voice of the People and fight for Preserving and Protecting the Identity of Goa.

The Congress MLA’s today met at the Chamber of Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat. Poriem MLA, Pratapsigh Rane, Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro and Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco were also present for the meeting.

The CLP Members condoled the sad demise of Veteran Congress Leader, Former Union Minister Late. Oscar Fernandes who passed away on 13th September 2021. The CLP Members remembered the close association of the departed leader with Goa. The CLP Leader Digambar Kamat stated that Goa will always hold Late Oscar Fernandes in highest esteem for his gift of ESI Hospital at Margao.

CLP discussed on the prevailing Covid situation in the State of Goa and decided to appeal to the people to take maximum precautions to avoid further spread of the virus. The CLP also decided to appeal to the people to take vaccines at the earliest and urged the Government to make elaborate arrangements for the same.

The members also discussed on the reports of discrepancies’ and ambiguities in the Covid Deaths reported by the Government. The CLP Members expressed shock over the late reporting of almost 68 Covid Deaths and urged the Chief Minister to issue detailed clarification on the lapses and goof-ups and place before the public the corrective actions taken by the Government.

The CLP discussed on the prevailing Law and Order situation in the State and raised serious concerns over the steep rise in crimes in Goa. The CLP Leader pointed to the National Crime Records Bureau Report of 2020 which has shown a rise of almost 73 percent in Crimes in Goa. The said report has also stated that the average rate of Rapes is 7.8 percent rapes in Goa as against the National Average of 4.3 percent. The CLP members condemned the Government for its failure to maintain the Law and Order in the State of Goa. The CLP expressed concerns over the failure of the Government to solve the Mystery of Death of Miss. Siddhi Naik whose body was found on the beach in North Goa. The CLP also raised concerns about the rising cases of abandoned babies (girl child) in the State.

The CLP discussed about the recent permissions granted by the Government of Goa for land acquisition for the purpose of railway double tracking in Salcete Taluka and expressed concerns over the act of the Government to bulldoze its decisions against the wishes of the People of Goa. The CLP decided to continue to be the voice of the People and fight to preserve and protect the Identity of Goa.

The Congress Legislature Party discussed about the announcement made by the Bakers of Goa to increase the rate of Pao (Bread) from 2nd October 2021. The CLP members felt that the increase in the price wills surely affect the household budget of the Goan’s. However, the CLP condemned the lethargic approach of the Government and its failure to look into the various issues raised by the Bakers of Goa. The CLP urged the Government to immediately implement the Goenchem Daiz Scheme which will give substantial relief to the Bakers of Goa.

The CLP also condemned the act of the Bhumiputra Bill hurridely introduced and passed by the Government in the last session. CLP urged the Government to conduct a proper study and take all stakeholders into confidence before presenting the bill in the assembly.

The CLP condemned the Brutal Lathicharge & Arrest of the National President of Indian Youth Congress Shri B. Srinivas, Goa Youth Congress President Shri Varad Mardolkar & other Youth Congress functionaries during their peaceful protest at Azad Maidan, Panaji demanding Employment for the Youths and opposing Rising Inflation.
