The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant attended and addressed the participants of the Orientation Cum Training Programme for Counsellors at Institute Menezes Braganza hall in the city recently.
The trainee’s participants will visit the homes of 3181 Covid -19 affected people all over the State. The Directorate of Social Welfare in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services, Women & Child Development, Education, and Higher Education had organized the training programme.
The Chief Minister while addressing said that the pandemic of Covid was unexpected leading to the untimely deaths of many people in the State.The Government has decided to give ex-gratia relief of Rs.200’000 to the Covid affected families in the State. Among Covid affected people, most of them would be in need of financial assistance or support while the rest of them would be in need of mental support.
Dr Sawant suggesting to the counsellors to counsel wherever required urged them to see what schemes could be provided for them and keep up following till they derive benefit of the scheme. The task of rehabilitation of these Covid affected people is the most valuable job. This is the task, different from their routine work and needs to be accomplished with sincerity and affection, he pointed out.
