Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant inaugurated India Fire and Security Yatra 2021- one of the events among three events of Mahayatra organized by Fire and Security Association of India (FSAI) at Taj Resort and Convention Centre, Vainguinim beach, Dona Paula, Panaji today.

FSAI has organized Mahayatra a set of three events which consists of Fire and Security Expo, a virtual expo of products and solutions; India Fire and Security Yatra, a physical event of seminars and stalls at all chapters of FSAI and Finest India Skill Awards, awards recognizing extraordinary contribution of organizations and individuals in the field of Fire, life safety and security.

While speaking on the occasion CM, Dr Sawant thanked FSAI for choosing Goa as the main centre amongst all their 24 chapters across India for organizing India Fire and Security Yatra and Finest India Skill and Talent Awards. He said, as the Chief Minister of the State it is a proud moment as Goa is hosting this national level event wherein manufacturers exhibit and promote quality under a common roof.

Dr Sawant urged all Hotels and other commercial complexes in the State to undertake Suraksha Index from FSAI and said it is an effective independent Fire safety audit system and safety surveillance. He said, this is for the first phase for buildings, especially commercial, medical care, hotels, school campuses etc. FSAI leadership need to set up a team in Goa to conduct this audit, he added.

Dr Sawant said, the specially set-up Covid19 task team of FSAI has done an excellent service to the society by engaging themselves at Fire stations and Police stations during the first wave. The association also was actively engaged in providing necessary support to the society by way of organizing medical oxygen supply and oxygen concentrators to the families of Fire and security professionals he said. Dr Sawant also applauded the efforts of the women wing of FSAI in Goa under the Surakshit Naari team who are also addressing the needs of women’s safety.

Dr Sawant called up FSAI to train and develop engineers from the State in additional skills of Fire, Security and Automation engineering so that they get better placements. He also applauded the efforts of FSAI to set up skill development labs in the State and promised all the required support from the Government.

The mission to make Atmanirbhar Bharat a call given by Prime Minister and the aim of FSAI to make Surakshit Bharat should work together and go hand in hand to see that Navbharat is created in coming days, Dr Sawant opined.

Director, Goa Fire and Emergency Services, Dr Ashok Menon in his address, applauding the efforts of FSAI in the fire prevention and risk management field said that they are engaged and fostering in spreading the message and inculcating a proactive mindset in the general public about life safety and security, loss prevention.

He also spoke on the role of FSAI to strengthen and resolve towards building a safer and secure Goa. FSAI Goa chapter is seriously pursuing the mission of spreading life safety and security aspects in the society and also among the industries in general and citizens of the State are benefitting from their efforts, he said.

Dr Menon urged FSAI to work more on skill development, competency and professionalism towards fulfilment of Atmanirbhar Bharat in fire safety and security segment.

National Secretary, FSAI, Mrs Rakhi Deepak; National Treasurer, Shri Venkatesu C; Shri Rajkumar Kamat and Shri Panjak Dharkar were present on the occasion.

Fire Advisor, Ministry of Home Affairs and Director, National Fire Service College, Shri D K Shami and National President, FSAI, Shri Suresh Menon also spoke on the occasion.

President, FSAI, Goa Chapter, Dr Jennifer Lewis welcomed while Shri Rajkumar Kamat proposed vote of thanks. Shri Rajnish Agarwal compered the event.

On the occasion CM was felicitated with patronship and FSAI honorary membership. Shri Ashok Menon was felicitated as advisor of FSAI. Technical sessions and Panel discussion on safe and secure hospitals, safe and secure hospitality industry, safe and secure Goa and how e-surveillance and IoT is changing our lives held in a daylong event.
