CM INAUGURATES MAINA CURTORIM POLICE STATION
Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant virtually inaugurated the new premises of shifted Maina Curtorim Police Station at Manora, Raia Salcete today in practical presence of MLA, Shri Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco; Zilla Panhayat Member, Shri Domnic Gaonkar; Sarpanch, Raia Panchayat, Smt Minguelina D’souza; District Collector (South), Smt Ruchika Katyal-IAS and Superintendent of Police, South, Shri Pankaj Kumar Singh-IPS. Director General of Police, Shri Mukesh Kumar Meena-IPS was present virtually.
Maina Curtorim Police Station, which has been functioning from the District Police Headquarters building, Margao has been shifted to its jurisdiction after 31 years of its foundation in 1990. It has been shifted to Government School building which has five rooms renovated and given a new look.
While speaking virtually Chief Minister, Shri Sawant said that this is the temporary arrangement made for the Maina Curtorim Police Station and the foundation stone for the new building will be laid soon at the already acquired spacious land for the police station at Sonsodo. Government is of the view that the State should not lack behind for infrastructure as well as overall human development and has been working in that direction, he said.
Shri Sawant appealed to the people to cooperate with police to see that crime rate comes down and also for the crime detection. He said within the coming 6 months various posts in the Police Department will be filled.
MLA, Shri Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco said, Police should be people friendly in the sense that people should not be under any pressure while coming with their difficulties or complaints to Police Station. Police and people’s friendly relationship will help to bring crime rate down and to fast detection of any crime he said. He urged everyone to work to bring forward Maina Curtorim as one of the best Police Station in the State.
DGP, Shri Meena said, Chief Minister is taking keen interest to ensure that the police force functions independently and professionally. He said by its shifting Maina Curtorim has now got its independent identity.
