CONGRESS DEMANDS TO BRING BACK UNACCOUNTED IRON ORE TO THE PORT
PANAJI: The opposition Congress Party on Tuesday demanded that the Directorate of Mines and Geology should bring back 1965 million tonnes of unaccounted iron ore loaded from the Mormugao Port onto a ship without any payment being made.
The Congress workers led by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Vice President Sankalp Amonkar marched to the office of the Directorate of Mines and Geology, Panaji and questioned the director what action he had taken into the accumulated ore which was illegally loaded onto the ship without conducting e-auction.
Amonkar demanded to know how a party who had bid for 50 grade cargo can lift 58 grade cargo. He demanded that the supplier of cargo to the vessel be blacklisted with immediate effect and all cargo in his possession be seized.
Amonkar alleged that Urban Development Minister Milind Naik was responsible for this. Congress gave the directorate of mines three days to bring back the ore and seize the machinery used to load the ore.
The GPCC Vice President threatened to file a police complaint and also a complaint before the Goa Lokayukta.
