PANAJI: The Congress leaders on Saturday visited Sadguru Brahmeshanand Acharya Swami and former India football captain Brahmanand Shankhwalkar , both recipients of Padma Shri awards, and congratulated them.

The leader of Opposition Digamber Kamat, Goa In charge Dinesh Gundu Rao, GPCC President Girish Chodankar, Youth Congress president Adv. Varad Mardolkar, Vithu Morajkar, Saish Aroskar, Toufiq Mullani, Sunil Kawthankar and Ravi Boseraju visited Brahmeshanand Swami at Tapobhumi-Kundai. While Elvis Gomes, Tony Rodrigues and Daya Karapurkar along with other leaders visited Brahmanand Sankhwalkar.

Digambar Kamat congratulated Brahmeshanand Swami and said that he has saved the lives of many addicted to liquor. “This has helped many families to live happy lives. There are many examples in Goa who could steer their life after visiting Brahmeshanand Swami.” He said.

Girish Chodankar said that peace and eradication of liquor addiction is not available at any shop, but one finds it through the blessings of Swami. “I am happy that the noble contribution of Swami is recognized.” He said.

Dinesh Gundu Rao also spoke on the occasion and commended the efforts of Swamiji in showing good way to people.

Brahmeshanand Sawamiji said that one should adopt spirituality for peace and good thoughts. “Government has honored the people of Goa by giving this award to me.” He said.

Panaji candidate Elvis Gomes and other leaders congratulated Brahmanand Shankhwalkar and wished him all the success. “we are proud that Shankhwalkar has been bestowed the award as he has made a lot of contributions in the sports area, mostly in football.” He said.

Taleigao candidate Tony Rodrigues also congratulated Shankwalkar and praised his contribution in Football.
