CRTICISM BY BJP DODAMARG VINDICATES MY STAND ON OXYGEN SENT TO MAHARASHTRA FOR POLITICAL MILEAGE – DIGAMBAR KAMAT
Margao – It is high time that the BJP Government in Goa constitutes a task force of experts from civil society and army to handle and manage Covid pandemic in Goa. How many more Covid deaths BJP Government under Dr. Pramod Sawant need to realise where the mismanagement is taking place in GMC which has resulted in deaths taking place between 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. questioned Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat.
I welcome the criticism from BJP, Dodamarg which has vindicated my stand on Oxygen sent to Maharashtra for political mileage at the cost of Goan lives. The statement issued by Dodamarg BJP Unit has exposed the hidden agenda of the BJP. It is loud and clear that the oxygen cylinders were sent to Sindhudurg at the request of BJP leader Narayan Rane and not for the benefit of needy patients. Those who play politics in medical emergencies should not try to point fingers at others Digambar Kamat hit back responding to his criticism by Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant two days back.
I and my party respect every human being across the world. But, I am also of the firm opinion that my State is first. We need to give first priority to our people and than to others and surely not for political advantage.
The live telecast on various social media platforms during the visit of the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant helped the people of Goa to see the total mismanagement in GMC wards today. I compliment the patients and relatives who exposed the complete collapse of healthcare facilities more particularly the shortage of oxygen right infront of the Chief Minister. Those present narrated the pathetic conditions of the toilets, washrooms etc. I hope the Chief Minister will now understand what Opposition was saying all these days was not criticism but actual reality Digambar Kamat said.
The politically motivated BJP Government has failed to arrange oxygen cylinders. The frustrated top functionaries of the BJP are now using police force to harass our Youth Congress workers by stopping their vehicles on their way to patients home or hospitals in response to SOS calls for emergency oxygen need. I demand that all those who are now reaching out to people must be given full support and co-operation by the government authorities.
I demand that both District Collectors must call meeting of all those working as frontline workers in oxygen delivery and issue them either cards or permission letter to collect, refill or deliver oxygen cylinders.
Government must understand that it is because of volunatry services of various organisations like Youth Congress, Mahila Congress and others hundreds of lives were saved in last 15 days. If people had to remain dependant on government facilities, the death toll would have shot up almost 30 to 40 times by now Digambar Kamat said.
