Chief Secretary of Goa, Shri Punit Kumar Goel, IAS today reviewed the preparedness of polling stations and other arrangements on providing the Minimum Assured Facilities at the polling stations for the forthcoming General Assembly Election for Goa 2022.
The meeting was attended by Chief Electoral Officer Shri Kunal, IAS; Shri Ajit Roy, IAS District Election Officer (North), Smt Ruchika Katyal, IAS, District Election Officer (South), Shri Uttam Parsekar, Principal Chief Engineer (PWD), Shri Harish Adkoncar, MD, GSIDC.
During the discussion, Shri Kunal, IAS, Shri Ajit Roy, IAS and Smt Ruchika Katiyal, IAS, briefed the various facilities/ measures taken in both the Districts as per the Election Commission of India Guidelines. District Election Officers are regularly monitoring the upgradation works of the Polling Stations carried out by PWD and GSIDC,
Sh Uttam Parsekar assured that PWD has carried out necessary upgradation works at all the polling stations. However, at 224 polling stations, the permanent ramp was not feasible due to space and other constraints, for which temporary ramps have already been prepared and will be put in place before the polls. Chief Secretary instructed that temporary ramps should be placed sufficiently well in advance, preferably by 7th Feb, to ensure their suitability and fittings.
Chief Secretary was informed that the Assured Minimum Facilities were 100 per cent complied in all the booths. The Collectors also reported that the PWD would provide the portable toilets at 80 different locations 2 days in advance, and all the preparations for installation have been carried out.
PWD has made potable water arrangements at all locations, except at identified 40 booths where water supply through water tankers will be made, and all the arrangements have been put in place.
CEO Sh Kunal further briefed on COVID safe voting arrangements at all the polling stations, and all procurements for COVID safe voting has been made and will be put in place on the voting day. He further informed that regular awareness of COVID safe voting arrangements is being carried out through different mediums.
Chief Secretary complimented CEO, DEO and PWD for taking necessary steps for providing assured minimum facilities during the polling day.
