A felicitation function was organised by the Goa Pradesh Mahila Committee for Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo on winning the elections. Bina Naik, State, Mahila, President, congratulating Lobo expressed her pride in Lobo being the only woman Congress candidate to be represented at the Assembly. “I look forward she will take women-related issues and be our guiding force.”
Pramod Salgaoncar, VP, PCC, in her congratulatory remarks said that Congress party gave importance to women and ‘looked forward to her involvement in PCC and you will rise in the party. I’m sure you will get numerous opportunities.” Salgaoncar expressed her hopes in a Women Chief Minister. “And looking at Delilah, and her leadership qualities, she could be a Woman CM in the forthcoming election.”
Addressing the women from the various committees on her electoral journey, Delilah Lobo said, that hard work pays at the end. “I started work in Siolim one-year ahead, opened the office and addressed people’s issues on alternate days. We built a few badminton courts, started work on football ground, and cricket pitch.”
“We also contacted all Mahila mandals and provided training courses in cake-making, chocolate,” she added speaking about the women force behind her campaign. “My door-to-door campaign started on 26 December, a day after Christmas and majority were women. My force were the ladies from Siolim. Looking at the support of 500 women with me, I was confident of winning.”
