Rethinking the Indian Education System is the need of the hour and requires wide deliberations   stated the Governor of Goa, Shri P. S. Sreedharan Pillai.
 The Governor was speaking after inaugurating Vasantrao Dempo Diamond Jubilee Lecture Series, ” “Where Ideas Converge” at a function held at Miramar Panaji today. The function was organised by  Dhempe College of Arts & Science Miramar to commemorate the completion of 60 years of the institution on the theme Re-thinking the Indian Educational System.
The Governor said education is the fundamental requisite of every individual for his integrated development. It is also required for developing the inborn skills to make one live a dignified life. He said education is the manifestation of perfection as said by Swami Vivekananda. India has vast tradition which is evident with the existence of great Universities like Nalanda, Vikramsheelaa, Takshasheela during ancient times. In order create good educationist, lawyers, doctors, teachers, engineers, politicians for which education need to have comprehensive approach, he added. 
The Governor further speaking said that according to him education policy be shaped considering prospective wealth of the country that the new generation of the country in the age group of 18 and 35 years, which comprises 35% percent of the population which can be converted into huge source coupled with advanced technology through which the country can transform into a progessive and developed country, he remarked.
Chairman of DCT, Shri Srinivas Dempo in his address said the visionaries of the trust who founded the institution has laid down major objective which cannot undermine but need to be adhered with which we will be able to create good citizens of our country eligible to secure employment and more as a fulfillment as individual. The focuss was not laid on employment oriented education in the past which is done now by the present Government. This insttition was set up by those visionaries having the noble objective of making quality education available for all Goans, he pointed.
Earlier the Governor unveilled the 60th year Diamond Jubilee logo created by the student of this College, Shri Mandar Ñaik. He was felicitated at the hands of the Goverñor.
Vice- Chancellor Goa University Prof. Varun Sahani, Director Higher Education Shri Prasad Lolyenkar, Chairman Shri Sriniwas Dhempe, Trusty Smt. Pallavi Dhempe, Registrar of Goa University Mrs.Radha Bhave Members of DCT and others attended the function.
Principal Dhempe College of Arts & Science Prof Vrinda Borkar welcomed the guests. Administrator DCT, Shri Rajesh Bhatikar proposed the vote of thanks.
