  3. FAMILY’S HOME BULLDOZED AS THEY FAIL TO GET SC STAY

One expects the Government to be with the needy. At a time where the monsoons are expected to break early, a low income family in Dabolim, one of the 46 homes under the demolition axe lost their home as they failed to get a stay order. Other 45 structures in the area managed to get interim stay from the Supreme court. The family lost their home despite being tax-payers and having their necessary meters and papers.

Addressing their plight the house owner said, “Where will we go? We are not going anywhere. I have loaned money from people to build the house. How will I rebuild? I can’t put a case. We have two cases already which are not cleared. Let them demolish it 10 times, I will rebuild it. I don’t have the strength to fight a legal case.”
