FORMER GOA GOVERNOR MRIDULA SINHA PASSES AWAY
PANAJI: Former Goa Governor and a renowned writer in Hindi literature Mridula Sinha passed away at her residence at Bihar on Wednesday. She was 77.
Sinha was the Governor of Goa from 25 August 2014 to 23 October 2019. Prior to that she was the President of BJP Mahila Morcha and national executive member of the party.
Sinha was also appointed as an Ambassador for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Ami Shah, BJP national president J P Nadda, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and others have condoled her death.
PM Modi tweeted, “Smt Mridula Sinha Ji will be remembered for her efforts towards public service. She was also a proficient writer, making extensive contributions to the world of literature as well as culture. Anguished by her demise. Condolences to her family and admirers. Om Shanti,” Modi tweeted.
Amit Shah said in a tweet, “The death of former Goa Governor and senior BJP leader Mridula Sinha ji is very sad. She worked for the nation, society and organisation throughout her life. She was also an accomplished writer who will always be remembered for her writings. My condolences to her family.”
BJP president J P Nadda described her demise as an irreparable loss for the party.
Minister for AYUSH Shripad Naik said, “Sad to hear demise of Mridula Sinha who was Ex Governor of Goa and an eminent writer. As senior BJP leader her efforts to strengthen party and services towards society will always be remembered. Anguished by her demise.Condolences to her family. Om Shanti.”
Maharashtra and Goa Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in his condolence message aid, “Smt Mridula Sinha was a writer, social worker and a kind hearted person. As Governor of Goa, she took keen interest in cultural and academic matters. With her affable nature, she endeared herself to the people of Goa. I pay my respects to the memory of the departed soul and convey my heartfelt condolences tö the members of the bereaved family.”
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in his condolence message said, “It is really shocking to learn about the sad demise of Smt Mridula Sinha ji, former Govenor of Goa. She was a tall leader with extensive work at grassroots yet had an immense passion for art and literature. For me, she always came across as a motherly figure! Her passing away is a great loss to the nation.“
Deputy Chief Minister Babu Kavalekar said, “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the news of passing away of Smt Mridula Sinha ji, Ex-Governor of Goa. We shared a very cordial relation during her time in Goa. He was a calm and kind hearted leader. May God give strength to her family to bear this loss. OM Shanti!”
Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat said, “Sad to hear about the passing away of former Goa Governor Dr Mridula Sinha. My condolences to her family, May her soul rest in peace.”
