Adding yet another feather in the cap of Goa’s spectacular development Union Minister for Road Transport& Highways Shri. Nitin Gadkari today dedicated to the nation the first phase of eight lane cable stayed Zuari Bridge and Approaches from Bambolim to Verna at a function held on new bridge. Speaking on the occasion after inaugurating the bridge Shri. Gadkari expressed that the new zuari bridge will be significant in providing excellent road infrastructure facilitating cargo and vehicular transportation. It will boost economy and promote tourism in the state.
Shri. Gadkari stated that, the Union Government is working seriously to build world class road infrastructure across the country by 2024.
Goa has to work towards excellent development and infrastructure without any pollution in the State. Shri. Gadkari advised state government to make highways corridors green and beautiful by planting flowering plants and maintain it.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant,Union Minister of State for Tourism Shri. Shripad Naik,Speaker,Goa legislative Assembly Shri. Ramesh Tawadkar, Minister for PWD Shri. Nilesh Cabral, MLA, Cortalim Antonio Vas, MLA, St. Andre Shri. Viresh Borkar were present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said that Government is committed to development. Union Ministry for Road Transport and Highways played significant role in building excellent road infrastructure in the State. New bridge will have revolving restaurant on the bridge. CM requested Union Ministry to construct light and sound show on the bridge. The bridge will facilitate cargo transportation, vehicular mobility across the state.
CM requested for approving another Circular road network connecting Patradevi, Mollem, Pollem, Dodamarg in the State.
New bridge will help decongest traffic on Panjim-Margao road.
The bridge is considered to be an important link between North and South Goa providing better connectivity and speedy vehicular traffic reducing travel duration between North and South Goa.
The new bridge is part of a project costing Rs. 2530 crore covering a distance of 13.2 KM from Bambolim to Verna. Dilip Buildcon Limited is constructing the project. After completion of the entire project the new zuari bridge will be the second longest bridge in the country.
Minister for PWD Shri. Nilesh Cabral expressed gratitude to Union Government for constructing the new zuari bridge. The project will be significant in enhancing the road infrastructure in the state.
Union Minister ofState for Tourism Shri. Shripad Naik said that new bridge will redress the problem of traffic congestion on Panjim -Margao road. He appreciated State and Union Government for dedicating new zuari bridge for people of Goa.
Chief Secretary Shri. Puneet Kumar Goel, IAS welcomed the gathering.
Minister for Transport Shri. Mauvin Godinho, Minister for Social Welfare shri. Subhash Phaldesai, Minister for WRD shri. Subhash Shirodkar, Member of Parliament Shri. Fransisco Sardinha, MP Rajya Sabha Shri. Vinay Tendulkar, EDC Chairman Shri. Sadanand Shet Tanawade and others were present on the occasion.
