He was speaking after inaugurating 3rd edition of Garment Premier League cricket tournament organized by Garment Cricket Association Trust, Kerala at Margao Cricket Club ground, Margao.
Governor speaking further said, he is very happy to welcome Kerala people to this great land of Goa. I am extremely Happy to be a Governor of this State, he said and conveyed his greetings to friends from Kerala. He said, ” when the organiser of this tournament approached him to invite for inauguration of this league he questioned them as why they are coming all the way to Goa for this tournament and was glad to get a reply that Goa and Kerala have identical similarities”.
He informed about the association’s intention to have this league throughout India every year. Kerala is known as Gods own country and people from this State visiting Goa for this league is a great moment he said and invited them to Raj Bhavan.
He said, when he was appointed as Governor of Goa, he approached Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for his blessings and had expressed his happiness as rice n fish curry the meal of Kerala is also available in Goa. This shows similarity of food culture between both states. Goa also have maximum coconut trees after Kerala. Goan people are good at heart. Cricket is one of the prestigious sports in India he pointed.
Garments Association consists of textile industry business people and their intention is to promote cricket at the same time accumulate maximum benefit. The benefits will be judiciously used for charitable purposes. Service to the people is a service to the God he added.
President of Garment Cricket Association, Shri V M H Ahamadullah also spoke on the occasion.
