Goa completed it’s 35th Statehood today. The Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant announced that July 15 will be marked as National War Memorial Day every year got Goa. It will commemorate the first liberation struggle against the Portuguese rule in Goa in Cuncolim in 1583. Speaking to the dignitaries at the State function he said that the Centre has requested States to mark a day as National War Memorial in New Delhi.

He also announced that the Government will annually honour organizations that have contributed towards Goa on Statehood. He also appreciated the Portuguese for instituting the Goa Medical College, Asia’s first medical college.

Highlighting the achievements of the State, the function felicitated the past Chief Ministers and prominent industrialists like Shrinivas Dempo and personalities. A coffee table book ‘Swayampurna Goa 2.0’ was released at the hands of Governor Shri. P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, and others.
