CM : Reviews Covid management with Revenue Officials

The Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant asserting that the Government is seized of the serious issue of the Coronavirus  ( Covid -19 ) Pandemic situation  which has seen the increase in cases and maintained that it is disheartening on the deaths of youth in the State. 
Dr. Sawant virtually addressing  the Deputy Collectors and Mamlatdars of all the Talukas on management of surge of Covid situation in the State at his official residence, Altinho today underscored the urgent need of action by all the stakeholders to control the rate of mortality and the surge of cases  in the State.
 Minister for Revenue, Smt. Jenifer Monserrate, Chief Secretary, Shri Parimal Rai, IAS, Secretary Revenue Shri Sanjay Kumar IAS, Collector South, Smt Ruchika Katyal IAS, and others attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister said the Pandemic situation has threatened the whole world and has also caught our State into its grip. We have witnessed record breaking deaths of 38 people in a day making it all necessary to initiate strict measures to bring the situation under control.
Owing to this situation the Chief Minister said that he has also had meetings with the officials of Home Department and directed to initiate necessary measures and act strictly to curb down against the violators of the guidelines and protocols.
 The Chief Minister maintained that the Government doesn’t want to impose lockdown but will  enforce laws to arrest the spread of pandemic in the state.  He said that we are passing through a serious situation wherein we will have to help people and instructed the authorities to shoulder the responsibility and  initiate steps as and when required.
The Chief Minister advised the public not to come out without any reason and  instructed the Deputy Collectors/Mamlatdars to initiate measures like making awareness at public places, markets, deploy flying squads, Police Constables at marriage halls, temples, places of entertainments, market, bus stands, fish markets etc. and strictly fine those who violates the rule.  
He expressed his concern over people not coming to Covid Care centres for the Covid patients although they are asymptomatic leading to worsening of the situation.
The Chief Minister directed the authorities to stop programmes like drama, allow them to perform religious functions like Palkhi and other processions with a limited number of people. He advised officers to reach out to communities to perform their religious rites from their homes.
The Chief Minister  urged the Deputy Collectors and Mamlatdars of areas where the Covid cases have crossed the mark of 1400 cases and below to hold meetings with representatives of Local self bodies and work out plans or measures to control the situation. He also advised them to go through Covid Bulletin published every day to keep updated.  
Finally the Chief Minister said that we have to control the situation and reduce rate of mortality at any cost for which he said  Officials of Revenue Department, Home Department, Health Workers at PHCs, , CHCs, Representatives of Local Self Bodies and Public at large will have to work together to overcome this situation to provide solace to the people.
Regarding the pendency of cases of mutation, the Chief Minister  directed the concerned to settle these cases without any delay. Issue challans to collect revenue. He instructed them to minimize involvement of advocates in mutation cases. The Government will set up a Public Grievances Cell to address the grievances of the public and ensure that the issue of pendency of cases does not arise. The performance would be judged on the basis of number of cases pending he informed. 
He said that Revenue Officials are the custodian of Government property and stressed the need not to allow encroachment. Do not delay of any issue and make the people feel that the Government working on a fast track.
Minister for Revenue, Smt. Jenifer Monserrate welcoming the participant expressed her concern over the surge of situation in the state. She appreciated the Revenue Officials who are working beyond the time and hereafter as well  to arrest the situation of Covid in the State.
The Chief Secretary in his address directed all the stakeholders to be alert, vigilant and to be serious as we are in a critical situation.  Our meeting from time to time is important, he added.
