Asserting that in today’s world education and health facilities are added in the list of basic needs of the human being as the Government has succeeded to provide food, clothing and shelter to all its needy people Speaker, Shri Ramesh Tawadkar said Government is more focused to provide health and educational facilities at doorstep to its people.
He was speaking after inaugurating a Health Mela organised by the Directorate of Health Services under `Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav`at Canacona Community Health Centre. Health Melas also coincided with the 4th anniversary of Ayushman Bharat –Health & Wellness Centre.
Speaking further Shri Tawadkar said, Health Melas helps to create awareness among the public regarding their health. Anganwadi workers play a major role to make the society aware about the various campaigns of the Government. They work hard to make social awareness and give moral support to the society. Pre and Post hospitalisation guidance is very much important for any patient to recover fast. Goa is the only State to provide free and effective medical facilities through Government hospitals, he said.
Mamlatdar, Shri Manoj Korgaonkar said such health camps benefit people at large. He said administration at door step camps will also be organised in near future.

Students of Mallikarjun High School presented a welcome song. Students of Parshuram Vidyarthi Vasatigraha and Shradhanand Vidyalay presented Mallakhamb.
Health Mela was organised for creating broad awareness about different health related Schemes and programmes of Government including Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri- Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPM-JAY) and Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission (ABDM).
It is also aimed to achieve various objectives of facilitating people to avail the benefits of different Health schemes and creating awareness about prevention of Non Communicable & Communicable Diseases. Providing screening for early diagnosis, basic health care services with drugs and diagnostics, tele-consultation with relevant health specialists and referrals as needed.
Directorate of Health Services provided various OPDs for the general public at Health Mela such as General OPD, OBG OPD, Medicine OPD, Surgery OPD, ENT OPD, Ophthalmology OPD, Orthopedic OPD, Skin OPD, Pediatric, Dental, AYUSH/Homeopathy OPD and Blood Donation Camps.
Wellness activities like Yoga, Meditation were also conducted. The Directorate of Food & Drugs Administration created awareness regarding the `Eat Right Campaign`. Similarly, the Directorate of Education, Panchayati Raj, Art and Culture were incorporated to promote the Health for All movement.
