High Court issues notices to the Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly & respondent 8 defected MLAs in the petition filed by Congress leader Girish Chodankar pleading to direct the Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly to decide the disqualification petition against 8 defected MLAs of Congress within 90 days; HC has directed all the respondents to file reply in 2 weeks. Next hearing fixed on 24/2/2023. Adv. Abhijit Gosavi argued on behalf of the petitioner while Advocate General of Goa Adv. Devidas Pangam. It may be recalled that disqualification petition was filed by former GPCC President Girish Chodankar on 11/11/2022 after the alleged merger of 8 Congress MLAs
On 14/9/2022. Chodankar had filed application on 1/12/2022 requesting speaker to expeditious the matter and dispose it before 90 days as per SC guidelines.

Practically tomorrow is the 90th day after filing disqualification petition before speaker

Petition was filed before HC on 6/2/2023.
