“Teachers should act as motivators and inspire students towards Nation building” said Prof D. B. Arolkar, Principal, Dnyanprasarak Mandal’s college on  15th August on the occasion of  75th Independence day at the flag hoisting ceremony in the campus.

“We must salute our freedom fighters for the supreme sacrifices that they have made for us and vow to walk on the path they envisaged for the Nation” he said. Though India has made progress in all the fields like science and technology, sports, education, it has also thrown up challenges before human kind in the form of floods, earthquakes, global warming due to man-made activities in the name of development. So, we the teachers are duty bound to infuse scientific temper and rationality in the society through the medium of students, he added.

The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by cultural performance staged in the college auditorium. The program began with singing of patriotic songs by the faculty members of the college led by Assistant Prof Yogita Karkhanis and Associate Prof Girish Abhyankar.

A beautiful Attire Show competition on the theme “ Freedom fighters of the Nation” was presented under the guidance by Dr. M. Shanthi .The participants were teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. The stage came live with Swami  Vivekananda, Rani Laxmibai, Rani Chennamma, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Rajendra Prasad, Gandhiji, Chandra shekhar Azad, Annie Besant etc

Mr Subhash Patil, Associate Prof., Department of Commerce spoke on this occasion. He quoted Justice M.G. Ranade and said the religious and social reforms are necessary and it is an ongoing process.” He further added that one should enrich oneself by reading, ruminating, deciphering, and practicing which will help the society to progress.

Mr. Mangesh Vererkar, HOD Department of History, highlighted the freedom struggle led by the nationalist leaders. He spoke about the catalyst role of  revolt of 1847 and Role of Gandhiji in promoting the phase of mass nationalist politics in India.

To mark the 75th Independence Day, at the state and the college level various competitions were organised.

The department of Sports organised a state level Karaoke contest 2021. 1st place was bagged by Disha Kurtikar (G.V.M’s College, Ponda),  2nd  place  to Janhavi Chatim ( DMC college) and 3rd Place was bagged by Amisha Chari from Goa Multi Faculty College, Dharbandora.

Department of English organised Essay   competition. The results are as follows: 1. Prachi Kataria of SY BA, 2. Mokshada Kudav of M.Sc Part I and 3. Anjali Rai from M.Com part I in English Category. In regional category Namita Talaulikar of M.Com Part II bagged the first place.

In post making competition: 1. Mr. Kelly Coelho Msc Part I, 2. Maithili Patekar from Msc part I and the 3rd place was bagged by Nasima Mulla from S.Y. B A. The coordinator of the competition was Dr. Sandesh Naik.

Rangoli Competition for teaching and non-teaching staff: 1. Prasann Mayekar and Anupa Naik, 2. Vijendra Mangaonkar and Riddhi Fatarpekar and 3. Chaitali Parkar and Kimberly Fiona Afonso.

Best Attire Show Competition: 1. Vijendra Mangaonkar as Mahatma Gandhi, 2. Dr. M. Shanthi as Rani Chennamma and 3. Chandru Govekar as Lokmanya Tilak.

Prizes were distributed at the end of the function and vote of thanks was proposed by the Vice Principal and HOD, Department of Commerce Ms Rashmi Redkar.
