The Office of the Collector and District Election Officer, North Goa in association with the Office of ERO/AERO 11- Panjim Assembly Constituency organized Youth Voter Festival at Convention Hall, GCCI, Panjim yesterday.
A Youth Voter Festival was organised, as part of the ongoing SVEEP (Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation) activities during Special Summary Revision 2022 (1st November 2021 – 30th November 2021).
The event registered a total participation of 120 students from 6 colleges. Around 120 students from 6 Educational Institutions participated in the festival. Mr. Petrison Andrade, North Goa Election Icon was present as a special guest and gave musical performance at the program.
During the Prize distribution function the District Election Officer and North Goa Collector Shri Ajit Roy appealed to the citizens to check the EVMs displayed across the State and convince themselves of the robustness and reliability of the system. He said that India has developed a system that is far better and reliable than some of the developed nations for which we must be proud of. He exhorted the youngsters to pass this message in their homes and in their neighbourhood.
He expressed his happiness to see so many young people attending the festival and taking active part in the events.
Shri Roy also distributed Prizes to the winner of various competition and also certificates to the entire participant.
Earlier, Additional Collector II Ms Mamu Hage, IAS inaugurated the festival in the presence of Nodal Officer SVEEP North Goa Dr. Gervasio Mendes, OSD Mr. Wilfred Goes, Deputy Collector Elections Shri. Shubham Naik, ERO Shri. Eshant Sawant and AERO Shri. Dashrath Gawas.
District Youth Icon and ace musician Mr. Petrison and his band sang a song urging voters to be vigilant and exercise their voting rights wisely.
Ms. Natasha Palha District Youth Icon and International Tennis player appealed and urged the young voters to be responsible voters.
During the youth festival various competitions like Electoral Literacy Quiz, poster making, ex- tempore speech were conducted. A Quiz competition on Elections was conducted by Quiz Master Shri. Naguesh Sardessai Teacher Grade I from Peoples Higher Secondary School Fontainhas Panaji. This was followed by an Elocution Competition on the topic ‘My responsibilities as a Voter’ with an offstage competition on Poster Making on the topic ‘No Voter to be Left Out’.
A street play also performed by Goa College of Theatre Arts emphasizing voter rights.
Ms. Mekhla Salkar PG student from Govt College Sanquelim compered the programme.
