INTER-MINISTERIAL TEAM REVIEWS IMPACT OF CYCLONE TAUKTAE 



The Inter-Ministerial Central Team led by Shri Ashutosh Agnihotri, IAS, Joint Secretary, MHA today held a meeting with all the line Departments for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation in the wake of the impact of damage by Cyclone Tauktae in the State at Van Bhavan, Altinho, Panaji.
The meeting was also attended by the Inter-Ministerial Central Team consisting of Dy. Director, Ministry of Finance, Ms. Shalaka Kujur; Director, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri R.P. Singh and Assistant Executive Engineer, Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways Shri Pranjal Buragohain; Assistant Commissioner, Ministry of Rural Development, Shri Ayush Punia, Dy. Director, Ministry of Power Shri Jitesh Shrivas and Scientist, Department of Fisheries, Dr. H. D. Pradeep.
Earlier, Secretary, Revenue Shri Sanjay Kumar, IAS apprised the Committee members and gave broad overview on the impact of Tauktae Cyclone in Goa. Giving a power point presentation Shri Sanjay Kumar informed that Cyclone Tauktae extensively damaged electricity, water and telecommunication networks in the State of Goa. The cyclone has taken three lives for which relief amount has been transferred to the account of the next kin by the State Government. The cyclone heavily damaged about 2004 houses/private as well as Government buildings properties especially in the coastal belt. Much damage was also caused to the standing crops. Based on the field reports, compensation has been paid Secretary added.
Secretary, Revenue further informed that State Disaster Management Authority led by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant assesses the loss estimated Rs. 153 crores and prepared a report and submitted to the Inter-Ministerial Central Team members of MHA.
Thereafter representatives of line Departments i.e. Agriculture, Fisheries, Public Works Department, Power Department, Water Resources Department, Fire and Emergency and Information and Technology gave a detailed presentation about the damages caused by Cyclone Storm “Tauktae”.
The Secretaries to the Government of Goa also interacted with MHA team
