  3. JOINT INSPECTION OF RIVER SAL: MLAS ASK FOR PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

Margao and Benaulim MLAs jointly inspected the River Sal along with the WRD authorities. They have asked the authorities to take necessary steps to prevent from flooding. While speaking to the media, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat said, “As this part of river pertains to Marago and Benaulim, we had a joint inspection. We have directed to authorities and told them precautionary measures to be taken before rain. First, the river should be de-silted and weeds removed. It has to be observed for one monsoon. Once you put up a concrete structure, it becomes a problem.

Venzy said that the tender for the de-silting and maintenance has already been given and money paid. He appealed to constituents on either side to raise a voice if it isn’t happening as it should. ” We have to save the river Sal and avoid flooding. The sewerage will be a different issue later. “It is surprising that when payment of maintenance is paid why the contractor is not doing and why the officers are silent,” he said.
