Tourism Minister and Porvorim MLA, Rohan Khaunte conducted a joint meeting with the Deputy Collector and Mhambledar of Mapusa to understand the issues pertaining to his constituents. Speaking to media, he said that he will speak to the Revenue Minister on the issues raised and the cases relating to Porvorim and it’s three panchayats. “We have come to review first and ensure that whatever cases are pending under both offices are rectified and suggest how to speed it up. Some issues are quasi judicial so we have no role. But understanding first hand from Mhambledar or Collector the citizen grievances, issues, and if required to speed up cases. “
He also called for creating a ‘friendly environment’ in Government offices. “We need the support of officers to deliver the results in the shortest time,” he added. In future, he explained that they will try to hold it Taluka-wise with the Revenue Minister.
Speaking on the previous plans to build Revenue Bhavan in Porvorim, he said that the idea was floated to ease the burden on Mapusa. “If we want the Government at the doorstep than we need to ensure that platforms are available. But, now the new Revenue Minsiter will have to decide how he wants to go ahead,” he stated.
