Plant lovers, here’s the last chance to visit the Konkan Fruit Fest. Eco-enthusiasts from across Goa have been attending the 16th edition of the festival. This edition, on till May 15, 2022 at the Mandovi riverside promenade is on from 10 am till 8 pm. The beautiful riverside setting has brought in the annual regular attendees who want to learn more about the plants or pick up saplings and seeds.
Various competitions have been organized on all days with helpful demonstrations like Daniel D’Souza’s bonsai workshop. The last day will have a drawing contest for children.
Miguel Braganza, member of the Botanical Society of Goa, who’s organized the yearly event in the past says, “This year, the special focus is on the bonsai fruit trees like mango and chickoo. With COVID, the demand for plants in pots giving fruits has increased.”
He added that the idea for the fest came from Ashok Naik, the then Chairman of the Panjim Municipal Corporation. The fest has been a major attraction every year, except for the three year gap when it moved to Margao.
Visit the festival at the riverside promenade to learn more about Goa’s local flora.
