The legal system in our country in the modern days are abreast with the latest happening and is more people centric providing justice to the common men. Indian judicial system as a whole including law commission should study the issues affecting the common people said Governor of Goa Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai.
The Governor was speaking at a Ceremony organized to Commence Judicial Proceedings of the High Court of Bombay at Goa at Porvorim today.
The Governor appreciating Chief Minister in his regime said Goa would be privileged to have national and international law university in Goa. He said today the wheel of justice began to move in this state-of-art premise and hoped that Goa will be achieve greater glory serving and fulfilling the very purpose of judiciary, he added.
The Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant in his address said that the liberation movement of Goa which was fought culminated into attaining liberation which aimed all sort of justice legal and social its entire citizen in Goa. Ensuring or access to justice to all is a fundamental tenet of our constitution owing to this objective the Government’s endeavor is to strengthen judicial infrastructure.
The Chief Minister said that the necessity of adequate infrastructure for judiciary cannot be undermined but has to be created considering the changing conditions because it is co-related. The idea behind providing robust infrastructure for Judiciary aims to deliver every citizen equal justice. Government is committed to impart justice to all citizen which will continue henceforth as well, he remarked.
Chief Justice of High Court at Bombay Shri Dipankar Datta while addressing said that it is historical moment in the history of Goa the actual functioning of this High Court is beginning from this State of Art building. It is the moment of pride and privilege to start judicial proceedings from here. He said in democracy expectations of justice is one of most important function.
Speaking further, he said Goa Bar Association has rich tradition of producing eminent lawyers in spite of severe odd situation. There are issues of pendency of cases which will be tackled in future and hoped for imparting justice to nerdy marginalized people in the State.
President, High Court Bar Association Adv. Jayant Mulgaonkar àlso spoke on the occasion.
Advocate General Government of Goa Adv. Devidas Pangam, Secretary Law Shri C.S.Garg IAS, Shri Justice M.S.Sonak, Senior Judges, Members of Bar Association, Advocates were amongst those present on the occasion.
