Stating that Goa is not just about the sun, sand and sea, but is also known for the Hinterland Tourism, Nature tourism and patriotic tourism Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant  today said that  Goa Government is endeavouring to promote all types of tourism to boost tourism activities in Goa.

     The Chief Minister was speaking as a Chief Guest at  the inaugural function of 5th edition of Bird Festival of Goa organised by Goa forest Department at International Centre Goa, Donapaula.

    Speaking  further, the Chief Minister informed that the Bird festival in Goa has participation of sixteen delegates from India and four Delegates from abroad. He said Goa is always known for organising International Festivals in Goa. Recently Goa  hosted 52nd  Edition of International  Film festival of India  he said and highlighted the importance of India International Science Festival held in Goa. The Government of Goa is always providing and disseminating information about the state so that everyone will get more knowledge about Goa. Further, he informed that the 5th edition of two days Bird festival of Goa is being hosted at Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary Chorao where all the participants will get an opportunity  to see the different species of Birds. He also appreciated the Forest Department for organising such an event in Goa.

Earlier, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant declared Malabar tree Nymph as State butterfly of Goa.

      The event began with lighting of the traditional lamp followed by the welcome address by Principal Chief Conservation of forest. The Short Film on State Butterfly was also screened on the occasion

    The Chief Minister also felicitated Goa Bird Conservation Network (GBCN) Shri. Mandar Bhagat on the occasion.

      Chief Secretary Shri.Parimal Rai IAS, Principal Secretary – Finance, Shri. Puneet Kumar Goel, IAS, APCCE & Chief Wildlife warden Shri. Santosh Kumar, IFS, Principal,Chief Conservator of forest Shri. Pankaj Asthanan, IFS were among those present on the occasion.
