With Covid-19 cases rising in the State, the Maharashtra Government has enforced compulsory use of masks in public places except open spaces. Additional Chief Secretary Dr Pradeep Vyas in a letter issued orders including wearing of masks in closed public places like trains, buses, cinemas, offices, hospitals, colleges, etc.

They asked the civic authorities to ramp up testing for corona with rising cases. The sharp increase in cases on June 1 at 1,081 cases prompted action from the Government.
