After last year’s online edition, the Monte Music Festival returns offline to its presential format. Organised by Fundação Oriente and Cidade de Goa with the support of the Museum of Christian Art, Furtado’s Music and the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman, the 20th edition of the festival will take place on the 23rd and 24th of April 2022.
Since the Chapel of Nossa Senhora do Monte is undergoing much needed restoration this year, our festival will take place at the Chapel of the Weeping Cross in Santa Monica Convent, one of the most quintessential spaces in Monte Santo, Old Goa.
This year’s programme will consist of just two concerts which will present a repertoire of choral music by two remarkable Goan choirs: Stuti Choral Ensemble and the Ektaal Children’s Choir.
Opening the MMF2022 on the 23rd of April, 7pm, the Stuti Choral Ensemble directed by Maestro Parvesh Java will present a magnificent interpretation of Handel’s Messiah (Part II) with specially invited soloists Farah Ghadiali, Subin Mathai, Kersi Gazdar & Rahul Bharadwaj, along with Nadine Crasto & Smit Shah on piano and an ensemble of violins and trumpets led by Eshvita Menezes.
On 24th April, 6pm, the Ektaal Children’s Choir directed by Nayantara de Lima Leitão will present a concert titled Harmony in Hopeperformed by their junior and senior choirs, accompanied by Ingrid Anne Nazareth on the piano and & Frederika Cotta on the violin.
Passes for the concerts will be distributed on a first come first served basis on the 19th of April 2022 at Fundação Oriente between 10am and 6pm. For more information call or follow Fundação Oriente on their social media outlets #forienteindia.
