There are various ways and means for disseminating information and spreading awareness be it through print, electronic and social media platforms. Apart from this, other tools which can be effectively used for creating mass awareness includes Audio-Visuals, Films, street plays among other traditional media. Any ruling dispensation be at the centre or at the State level always tries to make utmost use of such media to highlight its achievements, schemes, initiatives, showcase progress and development besides strides made in varied sectors and ultimately win the credibility of the people.

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant who has completed two and half years in office is endeavouring and strives to reach out to the people of all strata of  the society to see that their living conditions are improved and well-being is ensured.

The State Government has laid thrust on its three key initiatives which includes Swayampurna Goa, Goa@60 and Know Your Scheme. However, to accord much needed momentum to these three aspects the Government has come out with a novel idea conceived by the Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant to develop a unique  moving float depicting Government Welfare Schemes. The launching of this float from September 13, 2021 has undoubtedly proved to be an effective weapon for disseminating information and spreading awareness amongst the general public to a great extent. This is evident from the fact that the moving float developed on three aspects. Swayampurna Goa, Goa@60 and Know Your Scheme is evoking overwhelming response from the general public in both the districts of Goa. The float developed by the Department of Information and Publicity and presented under its auspices across Goa is aesthetically designed by one of the reputed Agency from Goa M/s. Sunlight Media. It will cover all the Village Panchayats, Municipal areas, Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandals, Markets, Bus Stands, Crowded places and other areas frequented by the people. So far, these floats two in numbers have covered most of the villages in North Goa and some villages in South Goa including urban areas.

Normally, we see floats developed on mythological scenes and other various aspects during famous Shigmo and Carnival festivities in Goa and at Republic Day Cultural pageantry wherein Goa presents its float on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26 in New Delhi, upon selection of design by the Defence Ministry. However, this aesthetic unique mobile float on a vehicle has become a major attraction as it draws the attention of the people and passersby as and when it halts at different locations.

The float developed with the celebratory theme on Ganesh Chaturthi is equipped with an LED screen and informative audio message regarding three key initiatives of the Government. It also provides insight into various welfare schemes of the Government and also about the outreach programme. “Sarkar Tumchya Dari”  (Government At Your Doorstep). In addition to this, the float depicts Ganapati Dekhava with 3D art effects amid dancing by local artists with captivating music on Shree Ganesh Chaturthi theme. Leaflets/Pamphlets containing information on welfare schemes are also being distributed to the General public to facilitate them derive the benefit of schemes. This exercise in fact indicates the intensifying efforts of the Government initiated to see that no needy and deserving Goan is left out from availing the benefit of Social Welfare Schemes aimed at elevating their living conditions and sustain livelihood.

Our country is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav and Goa, the tiny State of the Indian Union, is celebrating the Diamond Jubilee Year of its liberation. In pursuance to the Atmanirbhar Bharat Campaign, an initiative of the Union Government our Chief Minister acted forthwith and initiated immediate steps to make Goa Swayampurna in all areas. Though accomplishing this goal seems to be a herculean task this could be achieved provided people belonging to all sections of the society reap the benefit of Government Schemes, incentives and facilities.

Undoubtedly, such endeavours of the Government will go a long way in enlightening and educating people on the steps and measures initiated by it in the interest of the State and its people and also to ensure effective implementation of the schemes meant for the well-being of the people and betterment of the society.
