  3. NEED TO EDUCATE PUBLIC ON HEALTH FACILITIES, SAYS ALDONA MLA

Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira said that the public need to be educated about various government health facilities as many people are unaware about such programmes.

He was speaking after conducting an inspection of the Aldona primary health centre (PHC) at Gavar, Aldona on Thursday.

“I held a meeting with the Aldona PHC in-charge and reviewed the facilities at the health centre. Some things need to be upgraded. Also, there are many facilities and programmes that are not reaching the public. There is a need to inform and educate people about these facilities that the central and state governments are extending as most people are unaware about these,” he said.

Emphasising on the need to follow a healthy lifestyle and periodic medical checkups, Ferreira said, “There are some who are apprehensive about certain facilities. For instance, the government is offering online medical consultations. The government is doing a good job in providing these facilities. Healthcare is one of the important aspects. Rather than going to the doctor only when we are sick, regular health check-ups are necessary, especially once we cross the age of 40. We need to follow good habits and diet. We must take care of our health,” he said.

The MLA also reviewed the facilities at the police outpost and electricity sub-station office.

“Facilities at both these places need to be upgraded. The police are working 24×7, so this is important. Also, the power department’s office needs a storage room. The office space is small, and lacks a proper toilet facilities. I will move a proposal in this regard,” he added.
