  3. NORTH, SOUTH DIST. HOSPITALS TO BE DIGITIZED WITH HMIS UNDER ABDM

Health Management Information System (HMIS) will be implemented at North Goa District Hospital and South Goa District Hospital under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) under Directorate of Health Services. Health (or Hospital) Management Information System (HMIS) aims to provide a robust cloud based system providing easy and quick access to patients and hospital records.

Health Minister Shri. Vishwajit Rane informed that ABHA Health ID is a nationwide initiative under Government of India’s Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) aims to develop the backbone necessary to support the integrated digital health infrastructure of the country. It will bridge the existing gap amongst different stakeholders of the healthcare ecosystem through digital highways.

Under the New Mission, every citizen will now get a digital health ID i:e Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) and their health record will be digitally protected.

The Directorate of Health Services states that ABHA allows ease of registration and access to multiple digital health services available across the ABDM ecosystem now and in the future. Initially North and South District Hospitals will be digitized with the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS).

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) was rolled out nationwide by Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi on September 27, 2021.

ABDM creates a seamless online platform that will enable interoperability within the digital health ecosystem aiming to standardize data formats to make data sharing easier across different stakeholders and systems. This standardization will further help clinicians and public health authorities make better decisions and provide timely interventions. With uniform data from across the providers, the patients can see all their health records in one place.

In a phased manner initially, North and South District Hospitals OPD will be made paperless. In North and South District Hospital registration and patients records will be made online. Moving ahead all the OPD’s data will be digitized with the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS). Retrospective data will be available online. Data will also be available on mobile. Every time consent of patients will be taken.
