Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant flag offed the ocean sailing expedition on October 02, 2021 from Dona Paula Jetty at 11.am.
The Sailing Expedition is conducted by sea along the Konkan Coast for a duration of 10 days i.e. October 02 till October 11, 2021. It include night halts at different places along the Konkan Coast. Three Whaler Class Boats will be sailing in this expedition. Each boat has a capacity for carrying 6 cadets, 4 boys and 02 girls. The cadets have been trained for four days from September 28 to October 01, on the basics of whaler Boat sailing. 50 cadets are from Karnataka and 50 are from Goa.
This Ocean Sailing Expedition under Most Enterprising NCC Naval Unit (MENU) is being conducted by 1 Goa Naval Unit NCC, Goa on behalf of NCC Directorate (Karnataka & Goa).
The Aim of the expedition is to provide Ocean Sailing experience to the Naval NCC Cadets with a view to develop their knowledge on boat navigation using wind energy; to inculcate self confidence, team spirit, leadership, and co-operation during the camp; to impart training so as to help the country in its defence if called upon to do so; share the Heritage and Culture of their states amongst the cadets of Karnataka and Goa and to provide a window to interact and observe the activities of the Navy and encourage cadets to join the defence Forces.
In the course of the sailing expedition the cadets will also learn sailing on other boats available with the navy and windsurfing. The cadets will also undertake awareness drives about various initiatives by the government to help the citizens .They will be taking part in adventure activities such as Scuba Diving and Trekking.
