PERNEM POLICE SEIZE CANNABIS PLANTS, GANJA AND CHARAS WORTH RS 20 LAKH
PERNEM: The Pernem Police arrested two persons Larsen Richard (34) of Bandra-Mumbai and Rene Neel Santan D’Souza, (44) of Korgao-Pernem and seized ganja, charas and cannabis totally valued at Rs 20 lakh at Korgao.
During the narcotic raid, the police recovered ganja worth Rs 8600; charas worth Rs 5.60 lakh and cannabis plant worth Rs 14 lakh.
As per information given by Pernem PI Jivba Dalvi, he collected intelligence regarding drug activities at Korgao. Accorodingly watch was being maintained from a few days and finally on Monday, a raid was conducted by the team of Pernem police during which ganja, charas and cannabis plant worth was seized under the panchanama.
The raid was conducted in a house at Korgao and during the raid it was found that favourable environment and atmosphere was created for cultivation of cannabis as tubelights, temperature moderating machines and exhaust fans were found to be placed in the cultivation room.
This is the sixth raid on cannabis plantation at Pernem in last two months.
A case has been registered against the accused under sections 20(b)(ii)(A), 20(b)(ii)(B) and 20 (a) read with section 29 of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The raiding team was led by PI Jivba Dalvi and consisted of PSI Praful Giri and constables Vinod Pednekar, Anishkumar Poke, Ravi Mhaloji, Vishal Naik, Gajanan Sawant, Rohan Velgekar and Kiran Parab.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of Mapusa SDPO Gajanan Prabhudesai and officiating SP North, Shobit Saksena, IPS.
