
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi in a video conference held today with Chief Ministers of different states, including Goa, stressed on the importance of the Centre and States to work together to combat COVID.
The Prime Minister said that it was this strong relation with the Centre and State that played an important role in tackling previous COVID waves in the country.
Present along with the Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant were Health Minister, Shri Vishwajit Rane, Chief Secretary, Shri Puneet Kumar Goel, IAS, Secretary to Chief Minister, Shri Ajit Roy, IAS, and others.
Shri Modi lauded the efforts of COVID warriors and said that with cases rising in some states, there was a need to be alert and work in a collective, proactive, and preventive work.
Shri Modi said that while it is important to maintain and continue with COVID appropriate behavior, it is also vital not to spread panic. Attention has to be laid on scaling up man power and making health infrastructure functional, he added.
Commending the vaccination programme in the country, the Prime Minister stressing that vaccination was an important means to staying protected from COVID felt the need to have vaccination programmes in schools to target children in the 6-12 year age group.
