Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Margão today. While speaking With media Minister Ravi Naik spoke of his first visit and mentioned that he will visit the entire South property. He said that we need to protect whatever land is available. “People should get into farming. The man in Anjuna is cultivating black rice and selling it for Rs 400 a kg.If our youth took interest to grow papaya, banana, egg fruit and others, youth can earn a lot,” he said.
He also added that he will provide mango and Coconut saplings to MLAs so that they can distribute them in their constituency to cultivate, he added. Agriculture Department is thinking to increase subsidy for Mango And Coconut Tree Cultivation, he shared.
Agriculture Department Director, Neville Aphonso said that for natural Calamities due to heavy rains last year they provided 25,000 per hectare and this year they gave 40,000 per hectare also will cover loss of cashew due to unseasonal rain alls, he added.
