  3. REVOLUTIONARY GOANS LAUNCHES WOMEN’S WING

PANAJI: Revolutionary Goans launches its women’s wing, Stree Kranti with an aim to bring together women from across Goa and provide them with opportunities to develop personally and professionally. The Women’s Wing will provide a networking forum and create various programmes to encourage active women participation in the various industries. RG will endeavour to expand the role of women in the 21st century through change in fundamental character of the system and increased participation of women.

The Revolutionary Goans Supremo, Manoj Parab highlighted that this women’s wing was being launched for the purpose of women empowerment.

“Women today are not only ruling states and countries but excelling at it. Having said that, it’s only natural that we would like to encourage women to take up leadership roles and walk in par with us. It is high time they do not remain dependent on men as they have been for the last 60 years. Sadly in this male dominated political system the women and their issues are lost. The wing would not only empower women in the various sectors but also work in tandem with Revolutionary Goans in their various efforts and initiatives planned for Goa,” said Manoj.

“51 percent of the voters in Goa are women voters and yet nothing much is done for them. Self-help groups are barely provided any training, no ladies-only buses and helpline to report harassment are few things that need to be looked into. We have a vision document for ladies. Stree Kranti campaign will be launched after the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi,” he added.

While the Revolutionary Goans Women’s Wing Leader, Sunayana Gawde pointed out that the main motive of RG when it was started was women empowerment.
” It is very sad that our government has done nothing to empower and motivate the women in Goa. The politicians have been targeting the women vote bank but very less has been done for their upliftment. To fight against violence and injustice women needed to be empowered. Today our women are searching for government jobs because it becomes easier to balance home and work. As we know that in the private work sector women canot avail maternity and childcare leave which is very much needed. Only those who have government jobs get these facilities, ” said Sunayana. “Women are always made to feel inferior to man so they can be dominated and manipulated. We can see how they are used during political campaigns. Now we need to fight to save the existence of goans. This election our women will unitedly decide and vote for a better future, ” she added.
