Highlighting the imperative need for promoting agriculture in the State, Minister for Co-operation & Water Resources Shri. Subhash Shirodkar today announced that five new bandharas and twenty wells in Sanguem, Quepem taluka and other nearby areas will be built through Water Resources Department which would help young farmers and increase agricultural activities in the area. He was speaking at the 30th Foundation Day of Adarsh Krishi Kharedi Vikri Prakriya Sahakari Sauntha Maryadit, Balli- Goa held at Balli Cuncolim today.
Shri. Shirodkar further said that, his Department will built bandharas and wells for farmers to bring new land under cultivation. He stressed that young generation in the area has to adopt agriculture as a profession instead of waiting for Government employment and other jobs. He suggested for 3000 new farmers in South Goa to venture into agriculture and contribute towards making the State as Swayampurna Goa in its real sense.
He also assured to deploy Registrar of Cooperative society at zonal level only dedicated for resolving issues related to Cooperative movement and Societies.
Shirodkar expressed his joy as the Adarsh Krishi Kharedi Saunstha has completed 30 years of its glorious journey. The organization has been very significant in promoting agricultural activities and thereby boosting rural economy.
Minister also informed that the Government intends to make documentation of various types of subsidies allotted to farmers in six talukas of South Goa which would reveal the overall impact on farmers and agriculture in the area.
Minister for Social Welfare Shri. Subhash Phaldesai complimented Adarsh Saunstha for its 30 years fruitful and eventful journey. The Saunstha played a significant role in providing best agricultural avenues to local farmers of tribal community and and helping them in living a dignified life.
Shri. Phaldessai informed that Government is planning to set up Tribal village in Sanguem Taluka. The project will be able to highlight agricultural produce and handicrafts of tribal communities in Goa at international level thereby promoting hinterland eco tourism in the state.
On the occasion Adarsh Saunstha launched its new Deposit and loan Scheme. The scheme envisages below 10percent interest rate on loans for a limited period.
Farmers and people from various field felicitated for their extraordinary contribution towards Cooperative movement.
MLA, Quepem Shri. Altone D’Costa andChairman of SC and ST Development Corporation Shri. Vasudev Gaonkar, Regional Manager Union Bank of India Shri. Ashok Upadhyay, Executive Director of Achal Industry Shri. M. N. Pai spoke on the occasion.
President of Adarsh Saunstha Shri. Prakash velip gave welcome remarks. Shri. Rohit Khandekar compered the programme. Vice Chairman Shri. Satish Velip proposed a vote of thanks.
