Shri Kiran Munankar, Assistant Information Officer of Department of Information and Publicity was conferred with Patrakar Mitra, a friend of journalist award by Curchoren based Sanguem Quepem Patrakar Sangh a Journalist Association. The award was declared last year as part of celebration of its 37th anniversary on August 01, but was not presented at that time due to pandemic. This award was presented to Shri Munankar at the hands of Shri Dipak Bandekar, Director, Department of Information and Publicity; Shri Dipak Narvekar, Public Relation Officer, Goa Tourism Development Corporation; Shri Allwyn Pereira, Information Officer, Department of Information and Publicity, Shri Siddhesh Samant, Information Assistant and office bearers of Sanguem Quepem Patrakar Sangh, Shri Prahar Sanvordekar and Sarvanand Sawant Dessai at Entertainment Society of Goa, Panjim.
Shri Munankar having joined the Department of Information and Publicity in 2006 as information Assistant was elevated to the post of Assistant Information Officer in 2015 have handled varied and important subjects of the Department. He has been handling various schemes implemented for the welfare of Journalists and has been quite prompt in processing, thereby ensuring that the benefits are passed on to the deserving and eligible journalists.
Every year, the association felicitates different personalities by choosing and awarding different award in various sector. Due to the pandemic situation in the country, the awards have been declared last year but the function couldn’t be held.
