  3. STORMY MAPUSA COUNCIL OVER RESOLUTION TO CONSTRUCT FUTSAL GROUND

A special meeting of the Mapusa Municipal Council passed a resolution to construct a futsal ground and start work on the long pending issue of the market.

Briefing the media, Chairperson Shubangi Vaigainkar said that the council unanimously decided to construct the futsal ground near Kamat Gardens, Dattawadi for the benefit of the youth since there was no ground. The Council also resolved to take up the development of Mapusa market where 10 crore has been sanctioned. Work will be taken under GSUDA.

She briefed that earlier around 10 years ago, Ashwin Kumar Prabhu has sent an estimate for 20 crores.

Kamal D’Souza Councillor pointing out to discrepancies in the resolution for the futsal ground said that earlier the land was allotted for the Yatri Niwas. However, at that time, it was disputed. The tenant had gone to court but today the Council passed a resolution for a futsal ground. “I am happy that they want to bring the ground but she didn’t follow the process. The land has tenants and again if we try to do anything it will go to court. We had told them earlier to follow the process in Municipal Act. They bring half information,” she said.
