
Stating that the society and government together can make Goa better, Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant sought support from all communities to undertake development in the State. The government wants to reach the last person in the State. The Directorate of Tribal Welfare has 24 different schemes for ST community people but most of the people are not aware about the schemes which are available. I urged the youths to take initiative and make awareness about the schemes so more people can derive benefits, he added.
Dr Sawant was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Tribal Bhavan organized by Directorate of Tribal Welfare and Gomantak Goud Maratha Samaj at Porvorim today.
Dr Sawant speaking further said we have to contribute to make Goa Swayampurna while celebrating 60 years of liberation. We need to reach to every community and make Goa swayampurna in education and other sectors, he added. This new premises of tribal Bhavan will definitely help all the tribal community.
Tribal Welfare Minister, Govind Gaude recalled the contribution of leaders like Krishna Bandodkar, Kashinath Jalmi, late Shri Yeshwant Gawade who always worked to make this project successful. Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant has always shown positive response regarding this project which motivated us to make it happen in reality.
Speaking about the new premises he said the Corporation and Commissions connected with the tribal department will be accommodated at the building. The Tribal Bhavan will also have shops on the ground floor- revenue from which will be utilized for the maintenance of the building, a hall for events and programmes, hostels for the community, students from distant and studying in Panjim, GYM, besides other facilities. Having a dedicated centre that caters to their requirements will benefit the tribal community in Goa, he added.
Chairman of GSSTEDC Shri Durgadas Gaude, MLA Shri Pandurang Madkaikar, president of UTAA Shri Prakash Velip, president of GGMS Shri Vishwas Gaude, Ex MLA Shri Vasudev Goankar were amongst those who were present on the occasion.
The event began with lighting the lamp. Director Smt. Triveni Velip gave the welcome address. Shri Uday Goankar compared the function in which Shri Vishwas Gawade proposed the vote of thanks.
