  3. UNDERGROUND CABLING IN ALDONA TO BE TAKEN UP ON TOP PRIORITY, SAYS FERREIRA

PANAJI: Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira said that work on underground cabling in the constituency will be taken up on top priority following an assurance by Power Minister Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar.

On Saturday, Ferreira inaugurated two transformers at Podwal, Corjuem and Bela Flor, Ucassiam on the occasion of his birthday celebrations.

“The new transformer worth Rs 13.50 lakhs at Podwal will resolve issues of frequent power fluctuations and low voltage that would occur in this area. At Ucassaim, the 100kva transformer worth Rs 31 lakhs which has been commissioned today will benefit around 60-70 households. I am grateful to power minister Sudin Dhavalikar and chief electrical engineer Stephen Fernandes, as well as other engineers concerned who cleared the file to sanction the project,” he said.

Ferreira also said that the proposal for underground cabling will be sent again for approval.

“Dhavalikar has assured me that underground cabling will be undertaken in Aldona constituency on top priority. He will be having a meeting at Mapusa with him in this regard in the coming days. The file for the underground cabling project for Aldona constituency has returned. We are submitting the proposal afresh, and we will get it done. We plan to take up Bastora first and then Pomburpa in parts as everything can’t take up at once,” he said.

The MLA inaugurated de-weeding works of the Mapusa River near Bastora Menezes Lawns.

“The de-weeding work will begin soon. I thank WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar for sanctioning the work, as well as the engineers concerned. I also thank Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for the speed in which he has given directions and ensured that things are being done. If you can deliver promptly, people are happy. Works should not drag on for years together,” the MLA said.

He also attended a plant distribution event at Bandeshwar Mandap Bastora Band.

Later, he visited senior citizens at St Joseph’s Eventide Home for Elderly, Bastora, Holy Spirit Home for the Aged, Moira, and Bom Jesus Home for the Aged, Nachinola, as well as the Institute of Charity of Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Asilo, Aldona.

Later in the evening, Ferreira joined the Sao Joao celebration at Teen Manos before proceeding to his residence for the cake cutting.
