Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant today  reviewing the progress of 4 lane NH 17-B project at Baina Vasco announced that the stretch from Varunapuri to Sada Junction (5.3 Km) section will be opened for vehicular traffic by December 19, 2021.

Chief Minister Dr. Sawant held the meeting of all the stakeholders of the project today, wherein he directed the Contractor Company Gammon India to expedite the work and complete the Project at the earliest. Chief Minister stated that since the major portion is ready, the project should be completed on priority and main portion has to be opened for vehicular traffic by December.

Minister for Urban Development, Shri Milind Naik; Chief Secretary, Shri Parimal Rai, IAS; Principal Chief Engineer of PWD Shri.U Parsekar and other Officials were present for the meeting.

Vice President, Gammon India, Shri. Anant Kadiwal briefing about various works completed of major sections under the Project also apprised the Chief Minister of the various bottlenecks hindering the completion within in the stipulated time.

The meeting was followed by the site inspection of Varunapuri to Sada Junction flyover stretch. Chief Minister was informed about the various aspects of the works undertaken for the project.

Chief Minister Dr. Sawant maintianed that Varunapuri to Sada Junction flyover is the main scope of 4 laning of NH 17 B project and will play significant role in overall development of the Vasco city once the work is completed. The project will do away with traffic conjunction thereby allowing smooth vehicular traffic he added.

The Project has been initiated by PWD along with NHAI, Mormugao Port Trust. It was started in October 2015.  The cost of the project is approximately 500 crores.

Earlier Chief Minister along with Minister Shri Milind Naik held a meeting regarding the Road construction project, stretch of around 8 Kms and reviewed its progress. The Project includes Road from Baina to Sada Junction and Sada Junction to Antarctica centre. 

Minister Shri. Naik expressed concern over non completion of this road project in the stipulated time. He informed the Chief Minister that many aspects of this Road Construction is been incomplete and needs to be completed at the earliest to mitigate the hardship to the people. The Chief Minister directed the concerned contractors to expedite the work and complete the work of Road by December 2021.
