On 35th Goa statehood Day, the Goa Govt. recognised the contribution of Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore Business towards the progress & development of the state.
Sesa Goa’s Value-added business (VAB) is only company in the state producing 60MW Clean & Green Power through two of its power plants using waste gases generated from Blast Furnace and Coke Oven gases and supplies 30 MW to the Goa state grid at a very nominal price. Vedanta’s Sesa Goa Iron Ore Business has been a pioneer in proactive sustainable mining practices since the 1980s and is known to be an industry trendsetter in systematic reclamation of mines.
‘Sanquelim mine reclamation’ is a classic example of not only biodiversity conservation but nurturing sporting talent through our ‘Sesa Football Academy (SFA)’ as well as creating livelihood for community through ‘Sesa Technical School (STS)’. Till now SFA have produced 200+ professional footballers and reached out to 300+ women footballers through unique platform of Vedanta Women’s League. Over 1600 youth have completed quality skill trainings from STS with 100% placement.

Vedanta Limited has voluntarily contributed around Rs.300 Cr to the country with special contribution worth Rs.3.52 Cr to the healthcare system in Goa during COVID. Vedanta has supplied over 100 tons of liquid medical oxygen to Goa State when it mattered most during COVID Pandemic.
